סקוט מקנזי כבר לא הולך לסן פרנסיסקו

הזמר שהביא את מהפכת הפרחים מהחוף המערבי לעולם הרחב באביב 1967 הלך לעולמו אמש בביתו בלוס אנג'לס.

סקוט מקנזי, או בשמו המקורי – פיליפ וואלאך בלונדהיים, יליד 1939, קנה את פרסומו בעולם הרחב כמי ששר את שירו של ג'ון פיליפס – San Francisco – Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair, שיר שהפך להמנון ילדי הפרחים באביב שנת 1967, ואף היווה המנון החופש במדינות אירופה בתקופת מרד האביב בפראג בשנת 1968.

מקנזי שסירב להצטרף עם פיליפס להרכב האמהות והאבות המקורי המתין עד שנת 1986 או אז חבר להרכב המתחדש של הלהקה המיתולוגית ונטל חלק בפעילותה עד לשנת 1998. אמש נפטר מקנזי לאחר התקף לב, ידוע כי סבל ממחלות שונות בימיו האחרונים, עם מותו אפשר לאמר כי תם עידן הפרחים.
